Available only during university term time. Phone line: 8pm-8am || IM: 8pm-8am

In order to support our student volunteers we have taken the decision to close Nightline a week early. This was a difficult decision but we wanted to make sure our volunteers were not still seeking to work against the Government’s advice.

If you need to talk to someone about your mental health at this time, please get in contact with The Samaritans, who are open out of hours (24/7): 116 132 or University of Leeds Student Counselling on 0113 343 4107.

We will be back delivering the Nightline service as soon as we can.

Applications for Feb 2020 intake are now closed. You can follow us on Facebook to stay updated about our next recruitment drive. Alternatively, you can also email [email protected] for further information

Leeds Nightline is a listening and information service for students in Leeds. We are a student society based at Leeds University Union and aim to ensure all students in Leeds have access to our service. We are currently affiliated with:

  • University of Leeds
  • Leeds Beckett
  • Leeds Trinity
  • Leeds Arts University
  • Leeds College of Music
  • Northern School of Contemporary Dance
  • The University of Law
  • Backstage Academy

Students from these organisations are eligible to become volunteers.

Our service is confidential, anonymous, non-directive, non-advisory and non-judgemental.

As we are based at Leeds University Union, our phone lines are open from 8pm until 8am every night of University of Leeds term-time, including weekends. For the current academic year, our service is therefore open between the following dates:

  • Monday 24th September 2018 – Sunday 16th December 2018
  • Monday 14th January 2019 – Sunday 31st March 2019
  • Monday 29th April 2019 – Friday 21st June 2019

The phone number for our listening service is:

This is our new phone number and it has been activated since February 2018. If you are a Leeds University, Leeds Beckett University or Leeds Trinity student enrolled in 2017 or before, your student card will be showing two different numbers. These numbers are no longer available and will soon be removed.

As of the 29th of April 2019, we also offer overnight e-listening with Instant Messaging, which runs from 8pm until 8am every night of University of Leeds term-time. You can also email us at [email protected].
